Zrce Beach
Observed through the prism of never-ending electronic music festivals, which are primarily party destinations, the Zrce Beach, like a chameleon, changes its appearance, colour and purpose, and after awakening from a deep winter dream, in early June, it becomes a a powerful haven for all-day entertainment for young people from all over Europe and the world. It did not earn the epithet of the global phenomena overnight.
Some 15 years ago, Novalja was just a fishing and cattle town, which was characterized by modesty and attracted not so many visitors who were eager to find peace, good cuisine, clear and transparent sea and rest in the true sense of the word. And then Zrce Beach happened. Thanks to a couple of enthusiasts who had an idea of a different concept of a tourist offer, a modern fairy tale had been created. First, “Kalypso club” was opened in the early 1980s and two decades later “Papaya” and “Aquarius”. With very good marketing solutions, performances of most famous artists of the electronic music scene, attractive dancers and hostesses, these open-air clubs quickly attracted the attention of the world's media. The wheel started rolling and has no intention to stop. The number of overnight stays are growing from year to year, new accommodation capacities emerge like mushrooms after rain, the festival offer is expanding and the season has been extended.
In addition to festivals “that have made themselves at home here” such as HIDEOUT a traditional gathering of the British tourists, SPRING BREAK - the organized visits of high school graduates from Germany and FRESH ISLAND – hip hop & R’n’B music festival, one should not ignore the smaller ones which will go through a period of adaptation in organizational and marketing sense to find their place under the sun.
Thanks to Zrce, Novalja can be placed side by side with Ibiza, Santorini and St. Tropez with confidence, and the attractiveness and uniqueness of the island of Pag as well as the non-commercial and rural environment permeated with the scents of a rich history full of contrast, make this destination special and attractive.
In recent years, eminent world media such as CNN, Daily Mail, MTV, BBC and others have talked about Zrce Beach. Renowned DJs, including DJ Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, David Morales, Sean Paul, James Warren and many others have left their mark during numerous music festivals.
